Curriculum

The New Zealand Curriculum and Te Marautanga o Aotearoa are guiding documents for all schools and their students. Within the curriculum there is opportunity for schools to be very flexible about their local curriculum. Windley School has a curriculum that reflects this flexibility and the community it serves.

From ‘E tipu nga rakau iti’ we take our lead. Nurturing and preparing students for the changing world we live in. Our school curriculum, ‘Te marau a te Kura’ is based on a strong foundation of Literacy (oral language, reading, writing) and Mathematics. Our community have emphasised Health and Wellbeing/Hauora as a focus, and so this is integrated through our school life. Students learn to work in social and emotional ways that encourages participation and contribution to a strong school culture.
